STAYING SAFE TOGETHER – READ ABOUT PROTOCOLS

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE YMCA

Updated 10/26/20  8:00 am
We are thrilled to share that the Governor has announced a date we are allowed to open and effective June 20th we will welcome you back! We cannot wait and are ecstatic that day is nearly here! Please stay tuned to our Facebook pages, our website, and email for more information.
We have been actively preparing for the reopening of our Y by adding significant signage, temporarily closing high touch areas, doing deep cleaning, and moving equipment and furniture to promote social distancing.
We have fully implemented, trained for, and inspected all safety and health precautions both as required by the state and local health departments, as well as to meet our own very high Y standards. This includes rigorous training of Y staff to ensure they are fully prepared to welcome members back in a manner consistent with our many new health and safety protocols.

TEMPORARY HOURS

Our schedule will be reduced temporary to ensure we are able to properly clean and sanitize program areas.

TEMPORARY HOURS: New Hours starting September 8th
Monday through Friday   5:00 am  - 9:00 pm
Saturday                       7:00 am -  5:00 pm
Sunday                         9:00 am -  3:00 pm

WHAT THE Y IS DOING

Single Entry/Exit: To help us maintain our safety protocols, we will maintain a single entry/exit point.

Self-Scan: Members are asked to use the self-scanning station or check-in verbally for access to the building.

Designed for Social Distance: All areas inside the YMCA have been evaluated and redesigned where necessary to help ensure social distancing between members and staff. Signage is placed prominently throughout our building to drive awareness of this requirement.
In Preparation for Reopening, We Have:
  • Increased the number of cleaning and disinfecting stations throughout our facility
  • Installed acrylic sneeze guards for welcome center stations
  • Ordered state-of-the-art electrostatic sprayer to disinfect our fitness equipment
  • Began replacing all of our manual paper towels, hand sanitizer and soap dispensers with touchless/limited touch units
  • Assigned additional staff for cleaning.

Temperature Checks for All Staff:
Temperature checks are required for all staff
at the start of each shift.

HOW WE’RE ASKING MEMBERS TO HELP

The YMCA appreciates members’ adherence to the following safety precautions during their visits:

Masks: Members are required to wear masks upon entry and throughout common areas, locker rooms, and pool deck. Masks are not required while working out or swimming.

Expect Reduced Capacity: As per the Governor’s Executive Order, all fitness facilities will operate at a 50% capacity. Please ensure proper social distancing, determined by state/local authorities.

Stay Home if you are Sick: Members should stay at home if they don’t feel well. The CDC and Maryland Department of Health encourage seniors and members of vulnerable populations, including those with underlying health conditions, to stay at home.

Age Guidelines:
Children ages 16 and 17 can use the facility without adult supervision.  Children ages 15 and under, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the facility.  Venues that are available to children with adult supervision are the basketball courts, the track, the soccer field and the pool during family swim times (by reservation only).   All other facility age guidelines apply. Click Here to view Facility Age Guidelines

Wash/Sanitize Your Hands Frequently: Wash your hands or use provided hand sanitizer upon entering the facility and frequently during your visit.

Keep Your Distance: Please exercise on designated equipment only and respect all signage regarding social distancing. Strive to maintain at least six feet between you and others whenever possible.

Remember to Wipe Down Equipment: Please help us reduce the risk of exposure to germs by wiping down all equipment, weights, and items with cleaning materials prior to and after your workout.
Membership Agreement:  The YMCA of Cumberland has updated its Membership Agreement.  All members are asked to sign the agreement before scanning in and working out.

To sign the updated agreement, you'll need your barcode, which is located on your member "Y" card.  Click Here to Sign the Updated Agreeement
