Reach & Rise®
Reach and Rise® is a national YMCA youth mentoring program that matches mentors ages 23 and older with area youth ages 9 – 17. Supportive mentoring programs are important. Youth who have the influence of a caring adult in their life are less likely to use drugs, have fewer behavioral problems and are more resilient in the face of social pressures. Reach and Rise® trains mentors to work with youth, provides ongoing support and a platform for children to set goals and be successful.
Mentors complete 15 hours of training on issues youths may be experiencing. An FBI fingerprint background check is required. Reach & Rise® mentors commit to mentoring for one hour, one time a week, for one year.
Volunteers benefit from mentoring by knowing they have had a positive impact on the life and future of a youth, and a greater connection with the community.
