How do I register for indoor soccer?

To register online, go to Indoor Soccer and follow the prompts to the registration page. Registrations are also accepted at the Welcome Center just inside the front door of the Riverside Y, 601 Kelly Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.

What types of payment are accepted?

The Cumberland Y accepts cash, check, Discover, Visa and Mastercard.

I missed the registration date. Can I still register my child?

Due to the number of participants, we need adequate time to organize the teams, schedule the games and order the t-shirts. If your child is listed on a team roster that was submitted by a coach you can still register, but there will be a $30 late fee added to the registration.

Where are the indoor soccer games held?

All indoor soccer games will be played in the indoor soccer fieldhouse at the Riverside Y which is located at 601 Kelly Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.

What equipment does my child need for indoor soccer?

Each player must provide their own shin guards and shoes (turf shoes or flat-bottom sneakers). Outdoor cleats are not permitted on the turf. For our younger soccer players, we do not advise purchasing turf shoes since normal flat-bottom sneakers save parents an additional, unnecessary expense. A t-shirt will be provided for league play.

Can I coach my child’s team?

If you are willing to volunteer your time, we would love to have you coach! If you or your significant other would be interested in coaching a team, please submit a team roster before the listed deadline date. Coaches are required to complete a background check at no expense to you.

How will we receive our team’s schedule?

Coaches and players will receive a copy of the schedule via email from Playerspace once it becomes available. Please use a valid email that you frequently check when registering for indoor soccer so you receive the most up to date information.

When will my team’s schedule be available?

The schedule will be sent out at least 10 days before the first game.

What is the youngest age that can play in U8?

Your child must have turned 5 prior to 9/1/24 to play in the U8 division unless approved by the Soccer Coordinator.

Can one soccer player play on two indoor soccer teams?

Players can play on two soccer teams, but only one team per division. Players seeking an advanced competition level are welcome to play up a division, but cannot play down a division.

Can my child play up a division?

Yes, we allow players to play up a division.

Can my child play down a division?

No, it is against the rules to play down a division. The cut-off date is 9/1/24. For example, if you are 14 years old on 9/1/24, then you would play in the U16 division. The U stands for under.

How will I know if my child’s game is cancelled due to inclement weather?

The Y rarely closes for inclement weather, but it has happened on occasion. Please do not call the YMCA to ask about if games are canceled. If the Y closes, all indoor soccer games for the remainder of the day are cancelled and will be rescheduled. Y closings are posted on our website, Facebook page, and mobile app. Coaches and players will receive an email and/or text message from playerspace if games are canceled. If a coach chooses to cancel due to weather, the game will not be rescheduled and will be considered a forfeit. If a team forfeits due to weather, the opposing team is permitted to use the soccer arena during this time for a practice.

Can a coach reschedule a game?

The YMCA does not reschedule games unless they are canceled by the YMCA due to inclement weather. If a coach knows about a particular event during the session that affects the majority of his players, he should inform the Soccer Coordinator when submitting his team registration form. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests; however, requests are not guaranteed.

If the local schools are dismissed early due to inclement weather, is my child’s game still on as scheduled?

The Y does not follow the schedule of the local schools. Indoor soccer games will be still be played unless the YMCA closes, or decides to cancel games due to the inclement weather.
