Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP)Allegany County Public Schools and the YMCA have partnered together to provide a program included in your high school student’s health class that emphasizes avoidance of all sexual risks as the best choice among America’s teens.
The program, Promoting Health Among Teens, is a 10-lesson program taught by specially trained instructors from the Y who are passionate about helping students commit to plans for a positive future. Students participate in discussions, brainstorming, and role-playing. The program also includes DVD videos, exercises, and games that make learning enjoyable. During this program, students see that making responsible decisions involves more than avoiding pregnancy or disease. It involves self-confidence, respect for themselves and others, assertiveness skills, and maintaining a focus on the future.
