School Age Child Care Teacher

Description:
- Assume leadership of the group of participants assigned to his/her charge; teach and actively participate with their activities as a group.
- Follow all personnel policies and guidelines, follow all reasonable directives issued by the supervisor, and uphold rules, regulations and standards associated with the School Age Child Care Program.
- Assume leadership of staff and center in the absence of the Director.
- Role model and encourage the development and practice of the YMCA character values (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility), performing all assigned duties with energy and enthusiasm.
- Provide positive leadership to the School Age Child Care participants and actively participate with their activities, such as indoor and outdoor recreation, arts & crafts, enrichment activities, and playing games.

Requirements:
- Minimum age of 19.
- Hold a high school diploma or high school equivalence or have successfully completed courses for credit from an accredited college/university and,
1) have successfully completed 6 semester hours or 90 clock hours or their equivalent of approved preservice training;
2) 9 clock hours of approved training in communication with parents, staff, and the public; and
3) have one of the following:
- 400 hours of experience working under supervision primarily with school age children in a
licensed child care center, public or private school, or similar setting or 400 hours of
experience caring for children as a registered family child care provider;
- 1 year of college; or
- a combination of experience and college that together are equivalent to 1 year.
- Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
