Swimming
If your child is participatiing in the swimming activity please try not to pick up the child prior to 5:10 PM.
Late Pick -Up Policy
We understand that occasionaly there are situations in which parents can not avoid picking up late. Unfortunately we must have a policy to deter habitual late pick ups. The Center closes promptly @ 6:00 PM. A strict $1.00 per minute, per child late fee will be charged at 6:03 starting @ 6:00 PM (If you arrive 6:02 there is no late fee but if you arrive @ 6:03 the late fee for 1 child would be $3.00) If a parent/guardian makes a habit of picking up there child/children late a suspension of 1-5 days from the Center will be acessed depending on the number of times the child/children have been picked up late.
PLEASE CALL THE CENTER IF YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BE LATE.
SACC Sick Child Policy Sick Child Attendance Policy:
The State of Maryland Licensing regulations state that children with acute illness are not to attend the program until their illness has been treated or the child has fully recovered. Some examples of illnesses that would be considered acute and therefore would require that the child be kept home from care are: Severe coughing Breathing trouble Pinkeye Unusual spots or rashes Infected skin patches Diarrhea Sore throat or trouble swallowing Vomiting Fever If your child has had illness that resulted in vomiting and/or fever the child should be kept home for a period of 24 hours after the illness has passed. This is to ensure that the illness is not spread on to other children and staff. If a child becomes ill while in care with fever and /or vomiting the child will need to be picked up immediately. If a child becomes ill at school prior to being picked up for after school care the child will not be permitted to ride the YMCA bus and must be picked up from school.
After School Transportation
Transportation by the YMCA is provide to many area schools. It is the parents responsibility to inform both the school and the YMCA if your child will or will not be taking YMCA transportation each day. Both the school and the center must be notified of any changes to your childs’ normal transportation schedule. (Some examples of times when the center should be notified is if your child leaves school early or your child is absent from school. ) PLEASE CALL THE CENTER @ 301 777-9646 IF YOUR CHILD NORMALLY RIDES THE YMCA BUS AND FOR ANY REASON LEAVES SCHOOL EARLY OR BY OTHER TRANSRANSPORTATION THAN THE YMCA. THIS ENSURES THAT THE YMCA BUS WILL NOT BE HELD UP WAITING FOR A CHILD WHO IS NOT COMING & REDUCES INCIDENTS OF CHILDREN MISSING THE BUS
Missed Bus Policy
Due to the many schools that the YMCA picks up each day after school we do not have the ability to return to schools for children who have missed the bus. Although it is our policy to wait at the school for as long as possible for children who we are aware of attending, occasionally children miss the bus. In the event that a child misses the YMCA bus after school, the parent will be notified by the school and the parent will pick up the child from their school. It is impossible for the YMCA buses to keep their pick up schedules for all schools if they have to return to pick up children who missed the bus. Communication with the center staff on any transportation changes regarding your child is the best way to prevent your child from missing the YMCA bus.
