For more than 125 years, the Cumberland YMCA has provided programs and services that promote lifelong personal growth and the balanced development of spirit, mind, and body. We are proud to be a part of the nation’s largest non-profit community service organization, working to meet the health and social service needs of the residents of our Western Maryland community.
Opened in 1997, the Riverside Recreation Center is Cumberland’s premier recreational complex. Over 4,500 members and hundreds of program participants enjoy interacting with a friendly, caring staff and access to a complete wellness center, 6-lane main pool, warm-water pool, full gymnasium, climbing wall, walking/jogging track, indoor field house, babysitting room, locker facilities and so much more! Hours of Operation: Gilchrist Center The Gilchrist Center, located in Downtown Cumberland, is home to a variety of options to serve the Allegany County Community. The Gilchrist Center provides a supportive environment and positive role models who help to meet social service needs for both individuals and families that might otherwise be unmet.

The Family Center provides programs and activities for expectant parents and families with children aged 8 weeks through 48 months old. Activities for families include indoor/outdoor play, art, music, dramatic play, computer time, and pre-reading. There are also activities geared toward parents including parent enrichment, parent support group, and computer literacy programs. Allegany County Girls Group Home. The Allegany County Girls Group Home is a 7-12 month community based program for females ages 13-18. The group home is located in Western Maryland and provides a variety of services to its residents. The residents are encouraged, through role-modeling and education, to deal with past issues and focus on a brighter future. Services provided include: Mental Health evaluations and counseling, Drug and Alcohol assessments and treatment, Medical needs, Education placement, Job Placement, Membership at the YMCA and Life skills.
